With an Alton noise ordinance on the books for better than a year and showing success, Grafton is expected to be the next town to tackle noise issues. While a noise ordinance was considered a few years ago, it never made it off the ground, but current mayor Tom Thompson says there is a renewed call from the city’s residents to enact one.
He says the key to the successful control of noise is to determine what is unreasonable noise. That could include someone operating power equipment at midnight, or any loudspeaker system. The measure is expected to be introduced at tomorrow night's city council meeting.
