Grafton Mayor Tom Thompson says the city is looking at spring to get the Grafton Ferry moving again.   The city still needs to dredge a portion of the rivers in order to bring more visitors from Missouri.  Thompson says the state has told him the money to perform the work has been approved, so final plans are being made to start work in March.

Low river levels have impacted barge traffic, but Thompson does not think that will be the case with the ferry.

Thompson comments

Thompson adds it is a relief to finally be finished with the grant application process.  He says when you get money from the federal government that is funneled through the state, you must jump through a number of hoops, including hiring an environmental engineer to do environmental studies.
