The Grafton Ferry will be making the trips between Grafton and St. Charles, Missouri beginning May 20, says Grafton Mayor Tom Thompson.  The ferry's been shut down for about two years because of silt build-up in the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.  The re-launch of the operation is welcome news to those who travel back and forth to Missouri.

The cost to take the ferry is tentatively set at $8. Hours of operation will be Monday-Friday 7am-7pm, and Saturday-Sunday from 10am-10pm.  After the city of Grafton acquired the landing-site property on the Missouri side, it became eligible for state and federal grant money to finance the dredging of the ferry crossing.  The ferry shortens the trip from Grafton to the St. Louis and St. Charles area by about 30-minutes.
