New concussion standards for students have been signed into law by the governor.
The law requires schools to set standards on when students have suffered a concussion can return not just to the playing field, but to the classroom.  
State Sen. Kwame Raoul (D-Chicago) says he saw the effect the demands of schoolwork can have on concussion recovery with his own children.

"There are such things such as reading, exposure to computers that can exacerbate the symptoms of a concussion and delay recovery," Raoul said.
The new law goes into effect immediately.
