Governor Bruce Rauner has signed legislation banning the sale of addictive bath salts. The use of bath salts, or cathinones, has been on the rise over the last decade. They are chemically similar to cocaine and often disguised as legit products.
Bill sponsor Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) says this legislation will give law enforcement another tool in the war on drugs in Illinois.

The offense will be a Class 3 felony and carries fines of up to $150,000. Retailers caught selling bath salts could also lose their business license.
