Gov. Pat Quinn left Wednesday evening for an Army medical hospital in Germany. It’s Quinn’s eighth annual trip to Landstuhl, Germany to visit wounded soldiers. He’ll dine with the troops and pass out holiday cards that were made by Illinois school children. Quinn will fly into Frankfurt, Germany, and while there he says there may be an opportunity to talk business before traveling to Landstuhl.

“There may be an opportunity to visit with some German businesses,” Quinn said. “We obviously would like them to locate in Illinois and create jobs in Illinois.” Earlier this year, Quinn welcomed concrete supply company Lafarge North America to Illinois after their move out of Virginia. Quinn recruited Lafarge during an economic trade mission to Europe. Lafarge’s parent company is based in France.
