Is Godfrey a "Ready to Respond Community?" The village will be seeking that accreditation, after being accepted into a pilot program being rolled out by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. The program will recognize communities that achieve an enhanced level of preparedness.
The criteria are based on many of the same practices the village put into play during the winter flooding. The village's E.S.D.A. Deputy Director Chris Sichra tells The Big Z this accreditation would be a good selling point for the village.

The Ready to Respond Community program is the latest component of Illinois’ Ready to Respond initiative. To date, only six communities have begun the process towards accreditation and only one (Charleston, Il.) has met the criterion to obtain it.
