Earlier this year the Godfrey Village Board beefed up its ordinance covering door to door salesmen. Even with the added language, the practice is still legal if the proper permits are acquired. Village Hall has received a handful of calls this week from residents concerned about a pair of salesmen representing a utility company.
Village Clerk Pam Whistler tells The Big Z if you see people going door to door soliciting business, you should call her office to see if they have gotten permission to do so.

The number at Whistler's office is 466-3381. While these new solicitors may be pitching a legitimate product, the fear is that scammers and other criminals may see this opportunity to scout out potential victims.
