Last year’s harsh winter depleted salt supplies around the region, but Godfrey appears to be in good shape.  Salt prices have risen substantially since last year, but by planning ahead, the Village’s Director of Maintenance, Jim Lewis, says the village saved a substantial amount of money.

Lewis says the computerized salt spreaders worked so good last year, the village is buying two more at a total cost of $6,452.  That brings the total to five.  He says the spreaders use about half as much salt that the old kind, and still do a fantastic job on the streets.
