The playground at Homer Adams Park behind the Godfrey Village Hall is nearly 40 years old, so the village's Park and Recreation Director has been given approval to seek a grant to upgrade the facility. The Village Board gave authorization to Kimberly Caughran to apply for the 2016 Madison County Parks Enhancement Program (PEP) Grant, who is seeking $100,000 to cover the entire cost of the project.
Caughran tells The Big Z they will seek proposals for the project soon.

Caughran says the county should make a decision on the grant by March or April. She says the grant would cover the equipment, installation and surfacing. She says while the engineered mulch that is in there now meets minimum ADA requirements, they would like to upgrade to something that is easier to maintain and better addresses ADA standards.
