Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick is on the mend following heart surgery late last month. The surgery repaired a leaky valve, which he says has been a concern of his for a number of years. He returned to chair last night's Village Board meeting, but stressed that he has not yet been released to return in any other official capacity to Village Hall.
McCormick goes back to see his surgeon and cardiologist in the next couple of weeks, and will wait until they agree he can return to work, at least part-time. He shoots down a rumor that has started about early retirement.
In other village board business, it was announced that further work to rebuild the streets in Piasa Hills would not begin until after the spring. The weather has turned too cold for asphalt to be laid and still have a quality product.
