A Godfrey man is headed to prison for committing three robberies in 8 days earlier this year. 24-year-old Joseph Schwank was sentenced to 7 and a half years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a count of bank robbery and two counts of interference with commerce by robbery.
Schwank admitted to robbing the Pizza Hut restaurant in Alton, a US Bank branch in Alton and Domino’s Pizza in Bethalto between February 23rd and March 3rd of this year. In the Pizza Hut incident, he displayed an air soft gun when demanding money; Schwank passed a note demanding money in the bank holdup while wearing a disguise; and disguised his face and demanded money in the robbery of the Bethalto restaurant. In addition to the prison term of 92 months, he will also have three years supervised release and pay fines and assessments.
