A couple of former businesses on West Delmar Avenue in Godfrey will be re-purposed as part of a neighboring business expansion. Godfrey Storage is expanding and will soon offer new climate-controlled units. The expansion is possible thanks to Godfrey Trustee action.
To build on the property once owned by The Cream Machine and Alton Area Towing, the owners of the storage company had to get village approval of a variation to allow for a lesser rear yard setback. The variance will not result in the new building encroaching on neighboring property, according to Building and Zoning Administrator Laura Dixon.

In other board business, trustees asked the Village Attorney to draft an ordinance requiring petitioners asking to be annexed into the village to cover the legal costs of doing so. Three trucks, a car, and some office equipment will also be advertised as surplus property for sale.
