If you are a home owner in Godfrey and keep your property in a state of disarray, you may not be able to get away with it as long as you once did. The Village Attorney says the new ordinance calls for an increased minimum fine if you are found guilty of violating the village code twice within a year. The ordinance is scheduled for final reading in June.
For example, there is one property owner that has been issued over a dozen citations over the past decade, but cleans up the property before going to court. It is that kind of behavior Village Attorney Tom Long says this ordinance aims to address.
In other action taken by the Village Board, a date of June 4 was set for the Public Hearing on the 2012-2013 Budget and Appropriation Ordinance, adjusting sewer tap-on fees will be discussed at the next Finance Committee meeting, and the personnel policy was updated.
