Godfrey’s Glazebrook Park will see some extensive renovations over the coming months. New ball fields, sidewalks and a new gazebo are among the improvements to be made to the park; and the village has now secured the funds necessary to build additional restrooms that will connect with a concession stand and an open air shelter. That funding will come in the form of a $220,000, capital improvement loan from the Madison County Board’s Park & Recreation Grant Commission.
District 7 Representative Mike Walters says that fund is a great asset to Park and Recreation Departments like Godfrey’s:
Walters also says that this will alleviate a major safety concern. Previously kids had to cross Stamper Lane to get to bathrooms. That will no longer be necessary once the new structure is completed. The loan has a term of four years with a three percent interest rate, which Walters says is favorable for both the village and the county.
