A student at Roxana's Central Elementary School is alive today due in large part to the actions of a classmate. 9-year-old Emily Ogle recently noticed a classmate was choking in the cafeteria when she successfully performed the Heimlich Maneuver on him. School Principal Jim Miller says Ogle shuns the "hero" talk.
The boy she saved was eating a cheese-filled breadstick, according to Miller, when Ogle noticed he was choking. He says she sprung into action without hesitation and saved the fourth-grader's life.
