The Madison County Health Department is asking parents and guardians to get their children's back-to-school vaccinations sooner rather than later. Last fall, the MCV4 vaccine became required for every student entering grades 6 or 12. That led to many long waits for students and parents, according to a member of the Madison County Health Department.
Personal Health Services Manager Debbie Knoll tells The Big Z the Illinois School Code was recently revised to require several new immunizations.

Madison County Health Department has been working with Madison County Schools to ensure that parents have knowledge of the requirements and where to go for services to avoid potentially large numbers of students being excluded because they did not meet the meningitis vaccine requirement.
