Now that the election’s over, it’s time to talk about the election. Feb. 26 is the primary Election Day in the Second Congressional District special election and for all applicable municipal and school board races. April 9 is Election Day. The congressional election is to fill a vacancy.

The previous congressman, Jesse L. Jackson Jr., resigned last year.
“There are approximately 25 jurisdictions that will have (primary) elections in February,” says Rupert Borgsmiller, executive director of the Illinois State Board of Elections, “and almost all 110 will have some type of an election (April 9).”
He says the municipal and school elections are held in the spring to help turnout.
