The Alton Animal Control department has been saved, after an unexpected check was received at Alton City Hall on Wednesday. Mayor Brant Walker says the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has cut the city a check for nearly $1.3-million in reimbursements related to improvements identified in the Alton Riverfront Redevelopment Plan.
Walker says the reimbursement covers various phases of the master plan, including the Amphitheater, pedestrian bridge, and circulation, parking and bike trail.
