The City of Wood River and a former Wood River police officer have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed Monday in Madison County Circuit Court. It’s the second such suit brought against the City and former officer Jeremy Elliott who was previously convicted of official misconduct.
The new suit, filed by Jennifer Scholbe, claims Elliott sent the defendant inappropriate text and photo messages including offering to have pending charges dropped in exchange for sexual favors. The suit also alleges that he obtained a video of her strip search through his employment with the city. The suit also names the City of Wood River, claiming the City is responsible for providing training and monitoring the use of department equipment.
Scholbe is seeking at least $50,000 on each of five counts listed in the suit. A similar suit, filed in June by Traci Quigley, seeks at least $50,000 on each of three counts listed in that case.
