The former Director of the Small Business Development Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will serve three years of probation and pay a fine of $2,500 for lying to federal investigators. That sentence was handed down against 38-year old Kwa Mister of Fairview Heights on Friday. Mister pled guilty in April to two counts of making a false statement after he told investigators that he failed to report a conflict of interest to SIUE when he hired his mother's company to assist with the school's training program. The case was investigated by the United States Department of Transportation, Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor Racketeering, and the United States Attorney for Southern Illinois.
