A former police dispatcher that was charged in connection with a burglary investigation linked to an Edwardsville Police Officer has been sentenced to probation and community service following an obstruction conviction earlier this year. 42-year-old Keri Knight of the 8100 block of Moreland Road in Bethalto was convicted of two counts of obstructing justice in July.
Knight lied to Madison County Sheriff’s Department investigators as they looked into allegations against Brian Barker, an Edwardsville Police Officer suspected in nearly a dozen burglaries in the city dating back to May of 2012. Knight worked as a dispatcher for Edwardsville Police, and was accused of lying to police and removing money from the burglaries from her home to prevent investigators from discovering it. She was sentenced to 24 months’ probation on each count to be served concurrently, and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service. Barker’s case is pending. He has been charged with burglary and official misconduct.
