It is Valentine's Day, and if there's a special someone you want to remember, there's still time. Local florists have been getting ready for this holiday since November, and no matter where you stop, you'll be able to find something. From roses, to carnations, and everything in between, most can help you pick a nice gift with time to spare.
Rick Strack is co-owner of Dick's Flowers in Alton and Wood River, and says they've been pretty busy leading up to today, and will also be ready for any last minute customers...mostly men.
Strack says the higher cost of flowers around Valentine's Day is something the entire industry experiences because of the higher costs paid to suppliers. He says most roses you find today in our area come from Columbia, in South America, but there are options that will fit into everyone's budget.
