While the flood waters along area rivers are receding, it's not quite time to mount a full-scale clean-up. The Mississippi River remains out of its banks at both Grafton and Alton, and until it falls a little more, officials are hesitant to begin mopping up.
There is still a sandbag wall in place at Broadway and State Street in Alton. Alton City Council Liaison Matt Asselmeier says they are keeping an eye on when things can get back to normal.
In Grafton, the Mississippi has receded to the point that the intersection of Routes 100 and 3 is opening up today, but further up Route 100, the road is still closed. The businesses on the low end of town are still dealing with several feet of water before they can re-open.
