The Alton City Council has approved a resolution that supporters say could reduce the feral cat population in the city. The program is designed to trap the cats, neuter them, and return them to their neighborhoods.
Ledy VanKavage, Senior Attorney of the Best Friends Animal Society, says this will not only help control the problem of strays in Alton neighborhoods, but keep many of them from being put down.

The resolution will come back in front of the City Council as an ordinance in two weeks, and will likely become law by the end of April.
