The federal government is denying Illinois’ disaster aid request for tornado victims.  FEMA says that the damage wasn’t severe enough to require extra help from the agency.  Illinois Governor Pat Quinn says he is disappointed by the decision, but says he plans to appeal the denial in the next month.

The decision means that local governments in the storm-damaged counties won’t get reimbursements for up to 75-percent of the clean-up costs and debris removal.
