A Felony Warrant for Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer has been issued after the South Roxana Police Department was involved in a high speed pursuit. Authorities say that on July 22 an officer noticed a vehicle on the shoulder of New Poag Road and Illinois Route 111. The Officer performed a welfare check on the vehicle's driver, Terry Smith. The officer noticed that Smith appeared to be rolling a marijuana cigarette. When the officer knocked on the car window, Smith sped away. A chase ensued with Smith taken into custody without incident outside his Cottage Hills home.

 

a bag of what authorities suspected to be marijuana was recovered from Smith's vehicle. Smith was issued traffic citations and was released pending a formal review by the States Attorney's Office. The Felony Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer Warrant has been issued with bond set at $25,000. Smith is not in custody at this time.
