Another state lawmaker's tuition waivers are being scrutinized by federal agents. Authorities have subpoenaed records for scholarships handed out by Representative Dan Burke. The "Chicago Sun-Times" reports the subpoena seeks "all information" about Representative Burke's procedures for awarding the Illinois General Assembly Scholarship.
The feds also want any records "pertaining to receipt of any funds or gift in connection with the award of the scholarship, including the identity of any person or entity giving any funds or gift, the amount or gift received, and the date received." Burke has not been charged with a crime. He is one of several lawmakers who've had their legislative scholarship records probed by the feds.
