A day-long sex offender compliance check last fall in Alton resulted in the arrest of 37 year old Robert Ridenour of the 1200 block of West 9th Street. At the time, the Madison County State's Attorney's office charged him with 12 counts of aggravated child pornography after authorities say they found the material on his home computer. He is now three facing federal charges, following an indictment on Friday.

The charges filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office of Southern Illinois are Receipt of Child Pornography, Distribution of Child Pornography, and Possession of Child Pornography. The first two counts carry a 15-40 year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine. Count 3 includes the same monetary fine, and a prison term of 10-20 years. Ridenour's trial is scheduled for April 23 in East St. Louis.
