A crowd gathered at the Donald E. Sandidge Law Enforcement Center in Alton Wednesday evening to ask for swifter justice in a beating case in which the victim recently died. Family and friends of 43-year-old Johnny Gleason are calling for his alleged attackers to be put back behind bars and for charges to be upgraded as a result of Gleason’s death last Saturday night.
Twin brothers Aaron Hosford of Wood River and Adam Hosford of East Alton have been charged with aggravated battery and mob action in connection with the case. Johnny Gleason’s uncle John Gleason, whom he was named after, tells The Big Z the twins need to be held accountable.

The 24-year-olds bonded out of jail shortly after they were charged in early May. The beating reportedly took place on the large parking lot in downtown Alton bordered by Belle, Piasa, 4th and 5th Streets on May 3 around 3am. A benefit is being planned for next month to help pay for Gleason’s final expenses.
