Spectators watching auto racing events at Illinois State Fairgrounds will be a little bit safer from now. Fair officials say they'll be installing new safety fencing around the grandstands to better separate specters from the action on the track. The fencing is actually recycled material from Chicago Motor Speedway in Cicero and will cost under 50-thousand dollars to install.
Fairgrounds officials contend the fence won't in any way obstruct spectators' views of the track or concerts on stage. The fence will be erected sometime before the fair begins August 10th.
