One major challenge for food vendors at the Illinois State Fair is finding what will be the next big thing. That means there are always a few new items each year. Karla Edwards of “All Things Cookie Dough” hopes everyone’s love of the gooey batter gets her cash register ringing.
Also new this year is watermelon tea, Dole pineapple whip floats, and shark on a stick.
Bacon continues to be a big theme, with bacon-cheddar-milk chocolate popcorn, bacon lemonade, and a bacon wrapped carmel apple.
