The first official activities of the year at the Lewis & Clark State Historic Site in Hartford will be held this weekend. "Garrison Day" and "Women Come By" are events that celebrate the explorers and the women on the trip. Site Manager Brad Winn says today's "Garrison Day" will give visitors a chance to see what a typical military camp was like at the time.
"Women Come By" will include historic cooking, spinning and sewing demonstrations, and that will be held tomorrow. After wintering at the site, on March 30, 1804, Lewis and Clark formally enlisted the soldiers and other men who would take part in the expedition.
