Beloved Busch Stadium organist Ernie Hays has died. Hays collapsed Wednesday afternoon on the front lawn of his daughter's Maryland Heights home. In a statement, the team says Hays' music was part of the soundtrack of Cardinals baseball for years. He also introduced the popular Budweiser song, "Here Comes The King," to Cardinals game.
The team still plays the song during the later innings. Hays retired in 2010 after nearly 40 years with the organization. He also played organ for the St. Louis Blues, the former St. Louis Cardinals football team, and the St. Louis Stars and Steamers soccer teams. He was 77.
