Illinois drivers will once again receive reminders in the mail about getting their vehicle emissions tested. The state's car emissions testing contractor has agreed to take over printing and mailing reminder notices at no cost to the state.
The practice had been halted due to the budget situation. Secretary of State Spokesman Dave Druker says there will be a grace period for those who need emissions testing before they can renew their vehicle registration.
