With nearly 40 years as an educator and a lifetime of community service on her resume’, Debra Pitts, who served with the Alton School District and Civic Memorial High School has been named this year’s recipient of the 2015 Madison County Living Legends Community Service Award. She was presented the award at this week’s Madison County Board Meeting.

Ms. Pitts is an Edwardsville resident, born in Gary, Indiana and in 1971. She moved to Edwardsville to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She spent 31 years at Alton High before ending her education career as principal at Civic Memorial.
