An East St. Louis man was sentenced to 21 months in prison yesterday for unlawful possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. DeShawn C. Carlisle will also have to serve 3 years of supervised release, pay a $100 special assessment and a $250 fine.
Court proceedings revealed that in December of last year Carlisle ran from police officers at an East St. Louis housing complex that Carlisle had been banned from, after police attempted to question him. While running Carlisle threw a 9 mm semi-automatic weapon into a wooded area. Carlisle was arrested and the weapon was recovered.
