The statewide festival to promote education, recreation, and conservation of Illinois' waterways is coming to Alton's riverfront September 15. The Mississippi Earthtones Festival, formerly known as the "It's Our River Day" festival will be held at Riverfront Park from 12pm-10pm. Among the attractions will be an eco-village with arth-friendly products and services, and nature craft vendors.
The local Sierra Club has partnered with Alton Marketplace for the past several years to bring this event to Alton. The Sierra Club's Christine Favilla says there will also be a 4,000 gallon mobile aquarium will be on site for educational and shows, with a program called Fetch 'n' Fish.
Those shows are at 1:00 and 3:00pm. As for the music, the day's lineup includes Jake's Leg, Zion and the Lion Roots Band, Blu Skies, Raw Earth, and a bring-your-own-Drum Circle. You can learn more by following the link:
