The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is encouraging participation in a multi-state earthquake drill on Thursday. The annual “Great Central U.S. Shake Out” drill is set for 10:15 a.m. Lewis & Clark Community College’s Chris Bachman says you may hear their storm sirens go off if you are in the area at that time.
That is because in addition to the earthquake drill, they use the time to test their other emergency response precautions:

Participants in the drill will practice “Drop, Cover and Hold On,” which reminds people to drop to the floor, take cover under a sturdy desk or table and hold on to the furniture and be prepared to move with the item until the shaking ends.
