Free eagle watching tours begin this week from Pere Marquette State Park near Grafton. The tours will include stops in Jersey and Calhoun Counties, along with a presentation inside the parks visitors center. Tours start tomorrow, with another on Tuesday, then more throughout the winter until early March.
Park Interpreter Scott Isringhausen says the tours will begin with a presentation at the park, and then a vehicle caravan across the Brussels Ferry into Calhoun County and stop at the Two Rivers National Wildlife area and eventually making a stop in Hardin for lunch. The tour will return to the park by mid afternoon. He says it's a treat to be able to use the Wildlife area for the tour:
There are a limited number of spaces available for each tour, which will including driving for most participants and first come first serve to ride in a park van. To make a reservation for the free day-long tour, call the park office at 618-786-3323.
