The presidential election is over and now it’s time for Republicans to work with the president according to the number two man in the Senate. U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) says the people have spoken and it’s time for Republicans to give the president a chance.

“Let’s be honest, there was a clear difference between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama when it came to the future of the economy and the future of our dealing with the deficit and the American people reached a decision,” Durbin said. “If elections mean anything they mean that we should move forward. The president prevailed. He has said that he is open to changes and compromises, which he should say, but his basic plan was approved by the American people.” Durbin says there was a lot of “clarity” in the campaign he can’t believe anyone would have doubts about the president’s abilities.
