The third annual Fall Buggy Run is coming up Saturday meeting at Roper's Regal Beagle on Godfrey Road at 11am, and leaving at noon. The 6 hours or so on the road will take the dune buggies up the Great River Road and to a number of other places where participants will fuel up their cars and themselves.
Great River Road Dune Buggy, Chapter 618 Club President Kevin Goss says this is an event that's just for fun.
He says there is a lot of planning that goes into the event, as restaurants must be given the heads-up to expect 100-plus people when the cruise rolls into town. Last month the club hosted a successful food and fund drive at the Wild Pickin's Winery near Chesterfield, Illinois. Club members collected over $2,000 worth of food that was donated to the Carlinville Food Pantry, and $500 in cash for the Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills.
