U.S. Representative Tammy Duckworth out raised U.S Senator Mark Kirk for the fourth consecutive quarter. Kirk's campaign said he raised more than $1 million between April and June finishing with $3.1 million dollars, almost $2.4 million less that Duckworth's $5.5 million. Duckworth's campaign has called Kirk's latest fundraising numbers " Pathetic".
Kirk, who is seeking his second Senate term, is considered one of the GOP's most endangered incumbents. The GOP is defending 24 seats this cycle to Democrats' 10. Democrats need to gain 4 or 5 seats to win back the majority, depending on which party controls the white house and can send the vice president to the senate to break any ties.
