Most lawns are extremely dry if they have not been treated to a watering regimen ofer the past month. Conditions have been drought-like for about a month, and we are currently about 2.25 inches below normal precipitation for this time of year.

Some lawns are dormant, and some may be completely dead by this point. Asta Sadauskis of The Greenery in Godfrey says if you are still tending to your lawn, there are some things you should consider.

Sadauskis comments

Generally, turfgrass can remain dormant for 4-6 weeks without suffering significant damage. However, lawns are in jeopardy of dying if dormant for longer periods. To insure survival of the turfgrass, it's best to water lawns that have been dormant more than 6 weeks.
