The driver of a pickup truck that was hauling a trailer filled with construction material ran off the road and hit a utility pole on Monday morning in Godfrey, closing the roadway and sending the driver to the hospital. The driver was treated and released later in the day, and was also ticketed by police.
The driver, who was not identified, apparently ran off the road and struck a utility pole along West Delmar near Clifton Terrace Road Monday morning. The accident left downed power lines hanging just above the roadway and forced the highway to be closed for a few hours. It was reopened by noon. The driver was ticketed for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
