An Alton man’s death after an Amtrak train hit his truck has been ruled accidental. The Madison County Coroner says 80-year-old Henry Bloodworth was killed after his truck crossed the tracks at the Humbert Road-Washington Avenue crossing at the same time the train was approaching. The accident took place the morning of March 15th.
Bloodworth’s truck was struck by the train pushing the truck down the tracks for several hundred yards. None of the more than 250 passengers on board the train were injured. The cause of Bloodworth’s death was determined to be “total body blunt trauma.” The toxicology testing was negative for alcohol, and the drug screen showed only a therapeutic level of a prescription for Celexa.
