A crash in Godfrey sometime Friday night or Saturday Morning has resulted in felony charges against a Jerseyville man. 32-year-old Ryan D. Breden of the 17,000 block of Apache Drive was the alleged driver of a vehicle that left the roadway at the end of Lars Hoffman Crossing, hit a slight slope, went airborne, clipped a tree and landed in a cornfield.
He was taken to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries after crawling to a nearby home for help on Saturday. Reports of a passenger in the vehicle resulted in an extensive ground and air search that discovered nothing. As a result of the crash, Breden is charged with Obstructing Justice and Driving while License Revoked. According to information provided by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s office, the Obstructing Justice charge is a result of Breden allegedly claiming another person was driving in order to avoid being charged with driving while license revoked. The Driving while License Revoked charge, according to the same information, comes as a result of Breden losing his license following a 2008 conviction for Driving Under the Influence or a similar out of state offense. He also has Driving while License Revoked convictions from February 2009 and November 2014. Breden is not currently in custody.
