Teachers in the Roxana School District have reportedly found some middle ground with the school district, and members of the union are expected to vote on the offer next week.  Meanwhile, teachers in Litchfield have filed an intent to strike notice after failing to reach an agreement with the district following months of negotiations.  The Litchfield contract expired on August 15.

In both cases, a federal mediator has been used.  The tentative Roxana agreement is the result of a second meeting with a federal mediator and the union and district negotiating teams.   No details of the proposal for Roxana union members have been released, but the union leadership is not officially telling members how to vote in a meeting planned for next Wednesday.  In Litchfield, the intent to strike notice filed with the state means the union could take up the picket lines following Christmas break, January 7.   The union is asking for a 3-percent pay increase, and a federal mediator was scheduled to meet with both sides last night.
