Officials in the Southwestern School District are considering several options to solve the districts' financial troubles, and will be setting a date to conduct a special board meeting to discuss those options. School board members estimate they are facing a deficit between $450-thousand and $750-thousand next school year due to the state's financial problems. The board will decide when to schedule the meeting to address those problems at tonight's meeting.
Last month, Superintendent Brad Skertich briefed the board on possible solutions centered around the idea of shifting students to other schools and possibly turning one or more schools into district offices. Skertich says he will elaborate on those solutions tonight.
Parents and those with vested interests are also invited to express their opinions at the meeting tonight , which will be held at Southwestern Middle School at 7 p.m.
