If you find yourself on the receiving end of a bump while driving, you may be the intended victim of a carjacking attempt. It goes by several names – tap and contact, bump and rob, and bump and run are most common. No matter what it’s called, it is being used more often in the St. Louis area and the first reported case in the Riverbend happened last Friday.
Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons tells The Big Z if you think you are being targeted for this type of crime, drive to a safe, well-lit area and call police.

The incident last Friday happened about a block from the police station. He says one of the suspects that were arrested is also a suspect in the recent Chuck E. Cheese shooting in St. Charles.
